Women’s Soccer Beats Stephen F. Austin

The UCA women’s soccer team remains undefeated with a 2-1 victory against the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks on Oct. 7 in Nacogdoches, Texas.

According to UCA sports, sophomore forward Camille Bassett scored the first goal within fifteen minutes. UCA sports said junior forward Dayna Mounie picked up her third assist of the season and played the ball into the box for Bassett, scoring another point for the Bears and breaking the tie with the Ladyjacks.

Senior, forward Chele Naudin expressed her excitement for this game.

“I’m so pumped to get out there and show everybody how much our team has improved,” Naudin said. “We have nothing to lose in this game.”

She said Stephen F. Austin has won its regular season for the last five years and the Bears has never beaten SFA on their territory.

Naudin said since she has been in this program this has been the most successful season she’s seen, and the team is not even done yet.

“We are still undefeated in conference five games in and we have scored 18 goals in those five games and only gave up two. I feel like we are finally a team that other teams respect and truly have to be prepared to play, which is a great feeling to have considering how far our program has progressed in the years I’ve been here.”

Their next game will be against Houston Baptist University at 7 p.m. on Oct. 14 in Houston, Texas.
