The Student Dietetic Association (SDA), part of the Family and Consumer Sciences department, is for nutrition majors wanting to help the campus become healthier and help the nutrition students of UCA better understand their future occupation.
The organization was founded in November of 1998 and is involved in many activities on campus and in the community, according to the website’s homepage.
“The association is set up to benefit nutrition students by having guest speakers, and showing students what options we have available career-wise,” senior member Morgan Pearce said.
SDA assists with the annual EcoFest and the Child Study Center on campus.
“They bring in guest speakers and they’ll talk about what it is to be a nutritionist and what they go through and a lot of members volunteer at the food pantry on campus for students that are struggling,” junior Rebekah Csonka said.
While the Student Dietetic Association does only a few activities both on and off campus, it tries to help the community and the campus with health and nutrition education.
