The Bears lost 3-0 to the Oklahoma Sooners at L. Dale Mitchell Park on Tuesday.
The team’s overall record now stands at 5-4.
The UCA Bears have won five sequential games since the season started.
Before the Oklahoma game, sophomore Justin McCarty, who plays catcher, said the team has played very well this year. McCarty said the team’s first game did not go as expected but they did a great job of bouncing back to win five games last week. He said that says a lot about them as a team.
Bears junior and starting pitcher Hunter Neal allowed five hits, two runs and struck out seven during his 6 ⅓ innings on the mound.
Neal said Oklahoma was a tough team. He said they have a lot of tradition and they bring a lot of really good talent.
Neal said he tried to get ahead in the counts, expand the zone and force bad swings.
He said the team played pretty well, but not as well as they would have liked.
The Bears’ next games will be in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. They will play three games against Southeast Missouri State University on March 4, 5 and 6.
