The Sugar Bears conclude their season Saturday when they face the Northwestern State University Lady Demons at 4 p.m. in the Farris Center.
Both teams have recently defeated a team that their opponent has recently lost to.
The NSU Lady Demons have won six of their last eight games but come to Conway after suffering a loss Saturday to Southeastern Louisiana.
UCA played the SLU Lady Lions on February 28 and defeated them, 67-52.
NSU hosted the Nichols State Lady Colonels on February 28 and won the contest, 74-69.
Saturday UCA traveled to Thibodaux, La., and played the Nicholls State Lady Colonels, who got their first-ever win over the Sugar Bears, 78-66.
The Sugar Bears faced off against the Lady Demons themselves in February in Natchitoches, La., and were defeated, 85-71.
Coming into the game Saturday, the Lady Demons have a record of 14 wins and 14 losses, while their Southland Conference record stands at seven wins and eight losses.
After their loss to Nicholls State the Sugar Bear record shows seven wins and 21 losses. In conference play UCA has five wins and 10 losses.
The Lady Demons can secure a spot in the postseason Southland Conference with a win against UCA on Saturday.
The Sugar Bears are also celebrating Senior Night on Saturday. The Sugar Bears have two seniors, center Alex Velazquez and guard Allyson Sample.
Interim head coach Ron Marvel is coaching the Sugar Bears for the last time Saturday. He is hopeful that, this being the last game of the season, the players will be especially excited about the game.
“This is my last ball game and the kids’ last game for the season, so they should be excited,” Marvel said.
