Portions of Donaghey Avenue will be closed with water shutoffs expected Oct. 19 though Oct. 24 due to ongoing work on new infrastructure by Conway Corporation.
Water services shutoffs will take place Tuesday and Friday. On Tuesday, water will be shut off on South Boulevard from Donaghey Avenue to Davis Street. Water will also shut off along Donaghey from Alumni Circle to LA Niven Drive, along the north side of Wingo Hall. On Friday, water will be shut off on Donaghey from Bruce Street to South Boulevard.
These shutoffs will only last for a few hours in the morning, according to Conway Corporation Marketing and Public Relations Manager Crystal Kemp.
Kemp said that the water should only be off from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. but that shutoffs could take longer due to any issues that may arise.
Street closing will happen Monday through Friday on a portion of Donaghey Avenue from Robins Street to Bruce Street as well as South Boulevard from Donaghey to Baridon Street.
From Thursday until Saturday, Donaghey will be closed from Bruce Street to College Avenue. There will be a detour Thursday through Saturday at either Martin or Simms Street.
Kemp said the closing of Donaghey Avenue is necessary for the safety of motorists and students.
Kemp said the work being done by Conway Corporation is part of an ongoing project to decommission existing utilities on Donaghey Avenue, as well as install new infrastructure.
This project should be complete by Oct. 24.
