Mass Communication department seeks money

The Student Governement Association voted in favor of a $10 per-credit hour fee increase for some classes within the the Mass Communication Department . The proposed fee increase would only apply to students taking classes within the department and would be effective next semester.
The chair of the Mass Communication Department, John Gale said in a previous meeting that the proposed fee increase would go towards new equipment such as cameras.
Gale said the department needs over $100,000 a year. These funds that would be generated from the fee increase run at an approximate $46,000 a year to get more computers, cameras and software.
Over 100 students in the department signed a petition stating they were in support of a fee increase.
“This came from the students,” Gale said.
The SGA-approved resolution will be presented before the board of trustees on May 4.
