Police Report: April 14-15

The following information was taken from incident reports filed by officers at UCAPD. The reports are made available by university police after they are approved by a supervisor. That process takes a few days, which delays our report. This is a complete report of incidents filed for April 14-15.

April 14:

  • Student Cole A. McCarty, 19, drove his truck into a light pole at about 3:35 a.m. McCarty was driving in the parking lot between the HPER and Student Health Center, looking at parked cars, when he struck the pole. McCarty’s nose was bleeding and looked broken. The light pole sustained minimal damage. McCarty’s truck’s damage was estimated at $500.
  • Kizza Finley, 19, had her Nissan Altima towed at about 5:28 p.m. because she had $350 in fines. It was towed out of the parking lot south of Carmichael Hall.
  • Demetrius Lamar Willis, 21, had his Honda Accord towed at about 8:49 p.m. when a patrolling officer saw it was on the UCA Tow List. The car was towed out of the parking lot south of Christian Cafeteria for having $225 in fines.

April 15:

  • Student Lajuan A. Cannon-Joy, 21, hit a police car on his bike at about 7:25 p.m. The collision happened at the Bruce Street crosswalk between the Lewis Science Center and Prince Center. The officer was stopped, and Cannon-Joy tried to avoid the car when he hit the front passenger’s side quarter panel. Cannon-Joy, who was uninjured, said he was in a hurry to leave and couldn’t wait for the police sergeant to arrive because he had left some Easter pastries in his apartment oven. The officer and sergeant met Cannon-Joy outside his apartment. The car had one long scratch and a few smaller scratches.
