HPER Center to Host First Spring Has Sprung Fun Run

With spring now in effect, runners will have a chance to experience a new event on campus.

The HPER Center will host the first Spring Has Sprung Fun Run 5K on Saturday, April 5 at Estes Stadium.

The race will begin at 9 a.m. with registration and check-in starting at 8 a.m.

HPER Center Assistant Director Arian Story said they decided to add this spring run to “celebrate the onset of the spring season and hopefully warmer temperatures and brighter days.”

In the past the HPER Center has held a Trick or Trot run in the fall of every year, but has not had a similar event during the spring semester.

Spring Has Sprung Fun Run volunteers are needed.

For anyone needing community service hours, class credits or just wanting to help, there will be a mandatory volunteer meeting on April 1 during X-Period on the third basketball court in the HPER center.

The meeting will give volunteers more information on what their specific jobs will be.

“It could be helping with set-up, break down, registration and check-in or as course marshals,” Story said.

Today is the last day of early registration which guarantees a T-shirt and T-shirt size.

Registrations will continue to be taken until the race day with a five-dollar registration fee. Registration will bump up to $10 on the day of the race, so the earlier you register, the better!

A completed registration form and waiver are required and you can register on OrgSync or at the HPER center.

Contact Story for any questions or to sign up as a volunteer at (501) 852-2575.
