The Uh Huhs Win Arkansas Times Musicians Showcase

After a close competition, The Uh Huhs took home the grand prize and were named the 2016 Arkansas Times Showcase winner on Feb. 26 at the Revolution Room in Little Rock.

Over the course of the last few weeks, local bands have been competing for a coveted spot in the final round of the showcase. The Uh Huhs, Vintage Pistol, SOULution, Seanfresh and the Nastyfresh Crew and Collin vs. Adam were the semi-final round winners and faced off against each other Friday night.

The show started at 8 p.m. Each band played a 30-minute set with 30 minutes to set up for each performance.

Although there were judges, the audience members could cast their votes by dropping tickets into each band’s jar.

“Your vote does count and could determine the winner,” host Tiffany Hollands said.

The bands were all different genres, but were all extremely talented. Hollands said the judges had their work cut out for them and the decision would be a close one.

The Uh Huhs are a punk rock garage band from Little Rock. After the band members set up their instruments, they did a wardrobe change. They wore all-white jumpsuits and Ray-Ban sunglasses.

Lead singer Zack Hale thanked the judges, Stickyz and the Rev Room while onstage.

“We’re just so excited to be here. We just can’t contain it. All the bands are really just out here to have fun,” Hale said.

The Uh Huhs were definitely the crowd-pleaser of the night. By the end of the set, the whole crowd was singing and dancing along.

In addition to winning the title of Arkansas Times Showcase winner, the band won a prize package worth $2,500. This package included recording time, a headlining spot at Riverfest and a drink named after the band at Stickyz.
