Deadman Wonderland Season 2

Deadman Wonderland is a great example of an Anime series that many believe deserves another season. The first season, based upon a wildly successful manga, was first released over eight years ago. While the first season was a hit with audiences and critics alike, we have heard very little about the show since its conclusion. The manga finished up just a couple of years later, which should tell you in no uncertain terms that there is more than enough material to get Deadman Wonderland season 2 off the ground. Unfortunately, there is not nearly as much information on this subject as we would like.

Nonetheless, there are a few things we can discuss. For those who are the most eager, you will at least want to keep in mind that the odds of a second season occurring still strike us as being quite good. At the end of the day, we can only wait and see.

Catching Up With Deadman Wonderland

Based upon a very popular manga by Jinsei Kataoka and illustrator Kazuma Kondō, Deadman Wonderland almost immediately found its audience. Readers and critics alike applauded the series for its unique characters, striking designs, and compelling story. It is highly regarded by many for being one of the best thriller anime titles to come down the pike in quite some time. The series first appeared in Shonen Ace, where it quickly became liked in its native country. The series soon found further popularity with western audiences. After the manga launched in 2007, it became apparent that it wouldn’t have to wait very long to become adapted as an Anime.

This would happen just a few years later. In 2011, season 1 of Deadman Wonderland dropped on audiences. Much like the manga, it clicked with a sizable fanbase almost immediately. The season received significant praise for adapting one of the more unique manga series being published at the time.

As fans already know, the series told the story of one Ganta Igarashi. Sent to a sinister private prison known as Deadman Wonderland, he soon hooks up with Shiro, a childhood friend whom he has not seen in years. It is then Ganta discovers that he is a Deadman, which is someone who possesses the Branch of Sin. With this, Ganta has the ability to control his blood with ease. This leads to meeting other Deadmen, all of whom decide to wage war against the Chief Warden of the facility. Not surprisingly, there are numerous other characters to keep track of. The end result is a rich, fascinating series with depth and unique elements to spare.

The problem is that we don’t quite know for certain when a second season will arrive. Here is what we can tell you for the time being.

When To Expect Deadman Wonderland Season 2

The biggest issue with a second season is the fact that the production company is unfortunately no longer in business. When the first season of the Anime wrapped up, it stood to reason that Manglobe Inc. would eventually get another season going. However, in 2015, the studio filed for bankruptcy. They were forced to contend with a debt of more than 350 million yen.

This left a sizable disparity between what was filmed, and the remaining chapters in the manga. The first season only wound up covering fourteen of the fifty-eight chapters and thirteen volumes that defined the whole story. It isn’t surprising that fans are still clamoring for a follow-up.

At this point in time, it is extremely unlikely that we will get a second season from Manglobe. The company has gone under, and there is little chance that it is coming back. Does this spell death for Deadman Wonderland? Not necessarily.

In the past, Anime companies have purchased the rights to shows that were owned by other companies, which have since gone out of business. This is entirely within the realm of possibility for Deadman Wonderland. Again, the Anime was very popular. The manga also ran for an impressively long time. There is value in these facts. A company looking for something established will keep that in mind.

What To Expect From Deadman Wonderland Season 2

When last we left Ganta and the rest, they were ever closer to cracking open some of the darker secrets of this prison. The facility itself, as well as the sinister Chief Warden, were more intimately explored with further chapters in the manga. It is reasonable to assume that these things would have been given more attention with the second season of Deadman Wonderland, as well.

The Future Of Deadman Wonderland

The manga has finished. There are currently no plans to continue in that medium. This leaves us only with the hope that one of the biggest Anime companies in the world will give fans what they want by bringing back Deadman Wonderland.
