In a new Q&A series, The Echo reporters ask Student Government Association candidates about their Spring 2016 campaigns. Elections will take place April 6-7 on Org Sync.
Q: Who are you and what are you running for?
My name is Kelsey Broaddrick. I am running for Executive President.
Q: Why did you decide to run for SGA?
I have been involved in SGA since my freshman year. I did Student Council in high school, and have always had a passion for serving my school. When I talked with some people I knew on SGA, it seemed that it would be an organization that I would really enjoy. I got involved my freshman year, and haven’t left since! It is a truly incredible organization and knowing that I get to act and advocate for 11,500 students every day is pretty cool.
Q: Why should UCA students elect you?
I have served on SGA for the past three years. I have put countless hours into this organization and this university because I really have a passion for serving and advocacy. I have a dedication to SGA but also to my fellow students that will allow me to best put my skills to use serving UCA.
Q: Have you been in a leadership position before?
Yes! I have previously served as Freshmen Class President and Sophomore Class President of SGA. I currently serve as the Vice President of Operations.
Q: What’s something unusual about you?
I have a twin sister! We are involved in different things on campus, so it is always funny to have someone from SGA come up to her and ask about a meeting or something that she knows nothing about. Generally, if we get mistaken for one another, we just play along so the person doesn’t feel bad or panic.
