SGA Campus

Carly Riggins: Junior Class Representative

Q: Where are you from?
A: I graduated from Van Buren High School in 2014.

Q: What are you studying?
A: I am a public administration and political science double major and a history minor.

Q: Why did you decide to run for SGA?
A: I was a member of SGA last year and I loved the connection that it gave me to campus and to my fellow students. I love being able to say that the work we do every week really does make a difference and that there is truly no issue too small for us to tackle for the students. (For example, getting grilled chicken sandwiches on the meal equivalency plan).

Q: Do you have any plans for your term?
A: As it is my second year in this organization I have a better understanding of how to get legislation on the floor and how to better fight for what I know students would want. I plan to use my knowledge and experience from last year to be a more efficient representative of the Junior class.

Q: Have you been in a leadership position before?
A: As I stated before I have been a member of SGA before (as a sophomore class representative). Last year I was also a member of iDEAL Freshman Leadership team and through that I was able to gain very beneficial leadership skills that I have put to use through the Ambassadors program and in my sorority as the All Greek Council representative.

Q: What do you do in your off time?
A: In my free time I enjoy reading in my hammock and going hiking.
