Fraternity Holds Free Hair Cut Event on Campus

Omega Psi Phi fraternity collaborated with barbers from Prestige Cuts to bring “Cutz with the Bruhs” to campus on March 14, in the Greek Room of Arkansas Hall.

The purpose of the event was to provide financially burdened UCA students with free haircuts.

The hair cuts were intended to boost student confidence and moral, and to help students look professional for work related purposes.

“Cutz with the Bruhs” was just one event in “Omega Week”, a week-long series of events Including Game Night on March 12, Speed Dating and Scholarship Pageant on March 13, “Cutz with the Bruhs” and an HIV and STD Awareness Seminar on March 14.

Six barbers from Prestige Cuts were present during the event.

“You gotta be a blessing to get a blessing,” barber Codi Casey said. “This is our way of giving back to the community. We want to support college kids. This is also our nonprofit, nontraditional approach to marketing. We also want to start a movement by encouraging barbers across the nation to reach out into the community and help their community.”

Fraternity member Kwame Adderley monitored the program by promoting moral and sharing laughs. Adderley kept spirits high with constant jokes and well-meant jabs aimed toward the barbers and other students.

Junior Jacobey Easter was present to get his hair cut. He chose the classic look of a Bald Fade. Easter said that he first learned of the event when a friend told him.

The barbers and fraternity members were good for lots of laughs and lots of cuts. Many students took advantage of this “God-Inspired event.”
