Yik Yak: “Peek” at Other Schools

Welcome back to the Yak! This is the blog for all your Yik Yak tips, tricks and hot topics hosted by the one and only campus rep for UCA. This week, I am going to introduce you to the “Peek” feature.

Yik Yak is based off your location or wherever your herd is set. However, sometimes college students get curious about what is happening elsewhere or want to share their experiences with a wider audience. Yik Yak knows we like to be loud and has helped us to be heard. At the bottom of the screen, there is a tab called “Peek.” Tapping this allows users to see things going on in other herds. Yik Yak puts a few universities on blast, opening their campus up to the rest of us. For a day or so, colleges with highly active herds are open for public viewing.  Outsiders cannot comment or post to those other campuses, but it is a great way to see the interactions.

Yik Yak also has “Peeks” open to public voting and posting.  Fun polls, photo submissions and topic threads are common under this feature. Yik Yak views every submission to see if it is worthy to share with the world. If approved, anyone who looks at that section can see and vote on that Yak.
