CBC Coach Wins Home Run Derby

Jason Anderson, the softball coach for the Central Baptist College Mustangs, won the home-run derby on campus Wednesday and took home a 26-inch Vizio flat-screen television and a Best Buy gift card.

The derby was held immediately following the softball game between the Bears and the Ouachita Baptist Lady Tigers. The competition was open to anyone willing to pay $2 for six pitches. You could hit three of the underhand pitches and try to make as many home runs as possible.

The Central Arkansas Athletic Training Student Association (CAATSA) hosted the homerun derby to raise money for Haiti disaster relief and future CAATSA events, according to Cody Inskeep, president of CAATSA. Inskeep said he would like to make the derby an annual event.

A long line formed for tickets and organizers had to limit the number of times a participant could go back through for more tickets.

Second place went to senior Eric Everson, who won a gift card to Old Chicago Pizza and Michelangelo’s restaurants in Conway. Third place went to sophomore Dillon Barker.
