Bear Chat With Michael Quinn

by Spencer Griffin

Senior Michael Quinn has played for a total of three seasons at UCA with the Bears soccer team and has started seven of his 25 games.
He is on scholarship at the university and plays center midfield.
He is five foot nine inches tall weighing 146 pounds.
Quinn has taken a total of 12 shots with five of those shots being on goal.
Because he is more of a midfielder and less of a forward, Quinn does not have the opportunity to score as much as some, but contributes through his defense and through assists.
His sophomore year was cut short by an ACL injury in the third game of the season.
Quinn attended North McKinley High School in Texas and was first team all-district for his high school, all-region, district utility player of the year, first team all-city and two-time MVP.
He also scored 16 goals with 15 assists during his high school career. He scored 14 goals and had eight assists as a Junior alone.

Ever since I can remember.

I am a business major with a marketing minor.

What are your plans after graduation?
I will probably either go back to Dallas and find a job or do some mission work.

Why did you choose UCA?
I really felt like it was the right fit and a great opportunity for soccer. It is also a really good business school.

Did you look at any other schools?
I looked at Texas A&M as well.

Where are you from?
Dallas, TX. I went to McKinney North High School.

Do you notice difference between here and there?

In high school there was a game I scored the game winning goal with 30 seconds left.

What is your favorite movie?
“Lord of the Rings.”

What pro player do you play like or can compare to your style of play?
Steven Gerrard of Liverpool. That’s who I try to play like and think I play like the best.

What has been your favorite UCA soccer moment?
We played UNLV in Las Vegas and came back to win in the last seconds.

Describe what happen in your ACL injury?
It was the first 10 minutes of the game. I was cutting around a guy and got nudged, and the field already wasn’t in good shape, for some reason, and it caused me to slip and tear my ACL.

What is your favorite book?
The Bible.

Who is your favorite music artist?
Eminem.

What is your favorite TV show?
“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.”

What is your best attribute to the team on the field?
My competitiveness.
